Hi there,

Ive just recieved a bosh battery (s4 056) from car parts 4 less but, have a slight problem!

The package itself was not damaged but, in the bag it came in there was battery acid on it and the foam cover. Will this effect the battery itself or will it be still be okay to use?

Many thanks

Max

Given that it's a sealed battery I would imagine there is no point in using it.

Best get on to the supplier to arrange a swap.

Is there not safety vents at the top where it can escape?

Just ran a multimeter and its sitting at 12.77v

Will most likley get a replacement but, saying that its all a big hassle if the battery is fine. Just seeing if this is normal.

Did the acid come out of the battery that you have?

I'd imagine so?

The battery was wrapped in a foam cloth with was slightly damp when i opened the box.

from Bosch website "during shipment, transport, handling or tilting. Sealed battery cover design means no acid can leak."

Personally I would put it straight back in the packaging and get it swapped.

Voltage when not under any load doesn't really mean a lot. We've had plenty batteries at work that, when tested by multimeter, appear to be ok.

Yes if it is definitely acid and it came from your battery I would want a replacement. I would try and figure out where it was leaking from first though, just because packaging is wet doesn't mean that it came from what is inside and exchanging means waiting and hassle smile
