My Dad's new BMW F30 Sport

Hi,

In light of the recent 3 Series GT unveiling, I'd though I'd post up some photos to show how good the new 3 Series can look!

Here's my dad's new car. Stack of options fitted, including:

Sport trim level
Visibility package (bi-xenons with adaptive main beam - amazing!!!)
Professional multimedia and sat nav (really nice 8.8" widescreen with loads of toys including BMW Assist, Google search, Internet, iPod connectivity, advanced Bluetooth etc)
Full heated leather interior
Sports automatic 8 speed transmission (what a joy that is!)
Adaptive M Sport suspension
Metallic paint
Funky cruise control etc.
Probably loads of other things I've forgotten!

Wow...got to say the interior standards of the BMW (at least in the 3 series) has massively improved! I personally think it was too bland/boring but this certainly whet my appetite...

That interior reminds me a lot of an RX8.

Yeah, it's really very nice inside. The technology is amazing. He much preferred it over the Mercedes C Class.

The performance figures are amazing too! He's averaged 64mpg with motorway driving, yet offers 184hp, 7 seconds to 60mph and 145mph top speed! Crazy, but only £30 a year to tax too!

That gearbox is an absolute delight. It's perfect to drive.

Love the exterior on these. Personally, I prefer the classic lines of an E90 dash without I drive, but I understand that things need to move on and acquire bling to compete with Audi

Yeah right, I mean 7 seconds to 60 and 145mph is not exactly slow!! Yet the RFL and MPG figures are very impressive. Amazing how technology has come in just a few years.

I see BMW in Germany offer an M Power upgrade for it with a bigger inter cooler and a remap to over 200hp. I'm sure an aftermarket one would invalidate the warranty.

Comparing my Dad's 335d to the interior of a new F30 320d, the quality has definitely improved imo

BMW offer it over here too. It is available for the current 520d - a friend recently had his new F10 delivered with it - so I'm sure it is only a matter of time before it is available in the F30.

the one thing that really winds me up is the bonnet line, even though i'm a designer by trade they should have made it come below the badge onto the ledge sitting on top of the headlights and kidney grille

Interior is great, some nice improvements, but the exhaust looks weedy now, and a bit silly. I think they could have made a bit more effort there.

The bonnet line is terrible, what were they thinking.... Mixed views if Im honest, some improvements, some regressions...

I bet that new drive chain is great, enjoy!

Every time I look at any of the new beemers 1,3,5,6,7 even the gnarly looking 4, all I can see now is the bonnet line, I just don't get why? cheaper to repair a front end bump maybe, very cheap looking imo. Anyone know if there was a genuine reason?

"Pedestrian Safety" I suspect. The framework behind and around the Kidneys is likely to be easy deforming plastic.

Looks good however that Navigation really looks terrible, seems like they forgot all about it when they planned the interior and realized at the last minute and chucked it on the top.
Also the leather on the seats looked saggy and its a new car.
Apart from that indeed a huge improvement on the E90.
