Took off the plenum, yanked out the trumpets, cut them down 15mm... cleaned it all up, liquid gaskets and voila! Engine is noticably more eager between 3 and 5000 rpm, more fun!

lick

cant help think that a cam and a BV head will do wonders on my little 400! And with a lightened flywheel... might wait with the full 4.6 rebuild...

and now the trumpets

Turbo doesn't look out of place, massive gain for your buck. You'd stuff most Chimi's with one! Silicone you know the score on most things, Dom is very coy over figures for his turbo, what do you think you would expect to get if you had one on your little 500? Someone said on a 4.6 you could expect 400+ bhp and 450+ lb of the beloved torque's! I'd watch what your doing with that fragile crank so you'd have to go for abit less, I'm laughing again! As with most the crap I write is that a step to far to be realistic. one thing about turbos they negate the need to have stage 4 heads, who needs porting when you can just ram the air in at a rate no valves or porting could achieve. If your going to spend thousands then I'd look very closely at one, just my pennies worth.

Why don't you send daz a message? Don't use my threads!

And Daz, a turbo setup means:
1 - I need full EFI
2 - the luvleh sound is gone
3 - I need a bottom end checkover/rebuild with xbolting
4 - more weight in the nose
5 - Doesnt look original

SC or NA feels more right on a V8...

1- the old 14 cux needs binning anyway.
2-mine sounds f'ing awesome
3-no you don't with low boost
4-the extra power would out weigh the weight
5- certainly wont but if you were ever to sell you would stand out from the other gazillion 400 out there

Sorry, I was actually talking to you also. F1's going back to them, every manufacturer slaps them on whenever they want big figures. It's a big expense but any engine work is, as others have pointed out a turbo is the most bhp for your buck! Never meant to steal your thread just thought it might help, excuse me!

Hey Phazed you seem to be into your music, not just tvr music! Sorry Ole here we go again, Ole how did you know how much to chop off, how long are they now, I fancy a play! I can't see how it works, air faster into bores, or just more space inside plenom to hold available air. What's the general rule of thumb? Oh and are your trumpets original. Many regards Al.
