Best quality salt and pepper mills?

For use with rock salt and pepper corns!

For kitchen use, more than for table use so if it's not entirely shiny it's not a problem! Not looking for electric and or something huge!

Excellent products, lifetime no quibble warranty on their mechanism. I've owned mine for ten years and its been faultless with pretty heavy use. Had to get the ceramic replaced once, but that was because I over tightened it.

+1... I use this one:

T&G CrushGrind Spice Mill, Black, 125 mm

They are a couple of years old and still feel 'tight' and work as well as when I first bought them

Peugeot are superb (yep,the car company was orignally a pepper mill shop). As I recall guaranteed for life). I have had a couple for 20 years.

Got both from Aldi, both full, black Pepper corns and Sea salt, for about £4 total. Can't fault them.

I spent a good 30 minutes in John lewis trying them all out. I figured Peugeot would be the best but by they were certainly average. Sure, the mechanism is solid but nowhere near as good as the winner in terms of a blizzard of granules-per-twist.

The best by far 'without a doubt' <cough> were the 18cm (not the larger one) Cole & Mason Top Gourmet, the salt grinder being leagues ahead of all the others. Pepper was good too. Nice size for the kitchen, not too large.
You won't find better.

That's fair, Dazco. Poor choice of words on my part. I do like my Peugeot, though, certainly compared to the unreliable tat I previously had, that's for sure

I have a Pug too. Cannot fault it, but I am always on the lookout for better stuff.

I only have a pepper mill at the moment.
