Skyline GT-R - 5 seats?

Hi, I think I'm right that the factory standard was a 2-seat rear bench for the R32 and R33 models, but looking at some Australian forums it looks like a 3-seat bench was an option? Can anybody confirm this? If it is indeed true, I assume the middle seatbelt mountings will be on all cars and it would be a case of importing a 3-seat benck and buying some belts? Thanks guys

I would have a hard time choosing between them two.

I would imagine there are significant differences in the rear passenger space, especially with 3 people in the back. I've spent plenty of time in the back of an E39 530d, but never been in the back of an R33. Is there anybody out there who can confirm? Not planning on doing many long journeys 5-up, but would be nice for all 3 kids to be relatively comfortable. I'm drawn to the M5 for the noice and power of the V8, but to the GT-R for the turbocharged acceleration, the handling, the more youthful looks and the legend!

Just to add theres plenty of room in a Skyline '33 its based on a Laurel saloon chassis. The build quality and refinement is probably better on a Beemer but for racing car dynamics with all the straight six twin turbo howl at 8k rpm and the looks you'll get from others the Skyline smile is for me. Its all personal taste though isn't it ;-)

I've got an R33 (not a GTR but same dimensions) and the rear leg room is not great. I've had tall rear seat passengers but I needed to compromise my driving position by putting the seat forward to accommodate them. I think it would be okay for children though. Overall, it's a very roomy car; I managed to get a 7'10 surfboard in it and a 42 inch TV in it's box. Not bad for a coupe. I personally don't care much about car interiors but I can see why some people dislike R33 ones.
