I know it's cold and I know my e38 is probably kicking out some co2, but even after a stint on the motorway and a 20 mile journey it still seems to have the vapours when most other cars don't. Basically when it's cold my car smokes. Why?

Stainless exhaust? I just went for a spin in the Quantum and that has a powerflow on it, I was out sniffing the gases after about 10 mins of idling and it was still a bit steamy. Thing was I could see condensation at the tip and the oil and coolant werent doing much moving

My E30 chucks out an incredible amount of vapour when cold. Doesn't stop for about 15 minutes. Have to get it really warm before it stops. Seems in rude health though....
  • this is where it pops a head gasket on the way home.

If you're losing coolant and throwing out lots of vapour then you have issues, if your coolant level is fine it's nothing to be concerned about, H2O is a by product of the combustion process.

My Z3M Coupe used to kick out a scary amount and because of the shape of the tail it used to white out the rear window. It was, however, fine and I think they had stainless exhausts from the factory.
