Garmin Edge

I want to buy a Garmin edge 800/810 and was wondering as I play golf as well does anyone know if the edge cycle computer will work with the Garmin approach golf maps as I am reluctant to buy 2 gps units.

I generally buy a 'strokesaver' at every new course.

I 'know' how far my 6 iron goes, similarly the 7 iron.

I don't know how far away that bunker or green are within 10 yards at 160-170 yds away. A strokesaver works.

The GPS units (higher end ones) are brilliant! Like the GPS buggy units in top end/US courses.

It really would make sense to have the crossover from a CUSTOMER PoV. Not sure from Garmin's

It looks identical to the edge 800. I bet it would work. But who could know without trying to get th software and putting it on their 800

How do the garmin bike maps work say you had a edge with maps and a mate had a edge with no maps is it as simple as copying the memory card files over and they work in the second unit or are they linked to units with serial no's?.

Cant be done then seems crazy that you cant get an all in one unit, thinking a old iphone would do the job just as well for both?.
