Hi all
I have just fitted a new battery today and the car will not start.
Let me run past you the story so far, The battery was in poor condition
and I was not using the car often enough to keep it charged.
I charged the battery by connecting the charger to the starter terminal
this worked ok but meant i had to jack the car up each time i wanted to use it
so one day I tried to charge it through the cigarette lighter, it didnt work and the car
locked me out. I had to open the doors manually and leave them open if I shut them I would have to break in again. Having fitted the new battery I now have the doors working fine, the fuel pump is working it turns over ,it has power to the coil the plugs have a poor spark, but it does not fire. can anyone tell me what is turned off by the imobiliser and is it possible that something is still not working.

Have you checked the big-ass main fuse if it's fitted?

Weak spark ... coil?

If we cannot solve it, give Carl Baker a call. Www.tvruk.tv will give you his contact number. Phone rather than email. He fits TVR immobilser/alarms, and knows all there is to know about the TVR alarm/ immobiliser. Be quick, he is emigrating in about six weeks time.

He won't answer a number he doesn't recognise if he is working, to avoid too many interruptions and too many marketing calls.
Leave a message and he WILL call you back, though maybe not until the evening.

If the pump is pumping and the engine is turning over then the main two immobiliser relays are OK. I don't think there is a relay in the sparking circuit but am prepared to be told I'm wrong.

Might the engine just be flooded? I've flooded my 4.0 Chim several times and the solution has been to crank it on full throttle until it fires and runs.

The first time I flooded it it I tried a lot to start it but not on full throttle. A nice AA man taught my the full throttle thing and it did take over 60 seconds to fire.

I've stalled and part flooded my chim several times this winter. It's cold, the choke is rich and I pull out of my 'drive' up hill, over the pavement and onto the road. As I don't want to launch into the road I'm careful with the throttle and sometimes stall. 10 to 15 seconds of starting on full throttle and I'm away.
