I'm looking to buy a cheap fun car(iro £1300-£2000) for a run about. I have got a short list (which is constantly changing)and would like some opinions or other suggestions.

The car must be pretty quick (7 secs or less) and not be mental on petrol (looking for around 30 mpg, but bit less ok)

My list thus far
1. Saab 9-3 hot
2. Saab 9-5 hot
(must be manual as I hate Saab auto's)
3. BMW 328 or 330 E46
4. Clio 172/182

Thanks ;o)

328 personally, a few nice ones in the classifieds for around your price range.

I had a friend who had a Nissan 300zx, was a nice car, but not my cup of tea- Don't really know why.

90's Jag-I don't want to look like Arthur Daley LOL Jags just remind me of Minder (showing my age lol) I quite like the S type at the front, but it still looks like an old XJ at the back!!

I have owned a few sporty Saab's in my time-but not a 9-5 or a HOT 9-3.
The BM's seem to be good performance and decent spec, just seem to rust on the arches from what I have seen. The 328's seem to be better priced than the 330's which for obvious reasons probably get a bit abused-especially the 330 coupe's.

Thanks

Alfa 156 2.5 V6? Well within budget but perhaps not 30mpg.

Fiat Coupe Turbo? Cheap and quick, but then there's finding a decent one...

The Saab Aeros are a good call although not the final word in driver involvement.

What's the cheapest EP3 Civic Type-R to be had these days?
