Vehicle Tracker on Classic Cars

I have a couple of classic cars and I'm considering installing tracking devices on them as the standard security isn't overly effective and they're both convertibles so its easy access (I have the usual battery disconnectors etc).

I've just started looking at the market to locate the best device. Its a bit of a minefield out there with loads of offer, so does anyone have any advise?

One of my cars has a positive earth, so no idea if that will cause an issue. As I said, investiations are in their infancy at the moment so any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

There's Skytag - a fairly new company I believe offering good discounts for classic car owners at the moment. They look good and have the quickest recovery time too.

Positive earth shouldn't be a problem as long is it's installed correctly and doesn't 'earth' by bolting to the body/chassis - and as long as the installer is aware!!

I've been using cheap units off EBay for a couple of years for tracking assets like my car, wife etc and they work well.

Thanks guys. Skytag looks pretty good. £250 for fitting and £6 a month. One of the cheaper ones!

That's where I saw it too, Volksworld had a similar offer last year too. Seems pretty good on paper.

Just done a bit of reearch and the discount code CSMA still works on the site and reduces the total by £100.00. Surly a bargin.

We have Skytag on both the Land Rovers, and they're great, I would highly recommend them. True "fit and forget" and their response time is amazing. Should, for example, you disconnect the battery, there's an immediate email to you to verify the situation.

Definitely recommended.

Wow! I've just done an Ebay search. I had no idea that these things were so inexpensive. So many uses! I shall carry one with me on future business trips for sure. Are there vehicle ones that can be plugged into the car to save on mains recharging?

For price of a couple of gallons of fuel they SEEM to be a bargain. Do they work? Has anyone got any experience of using one? At the price (if they work!) pretty cheap insurance - even if you have a monitored system.
