Loads of posts about this but it all comes down to your attitude to risk. If you take it out and there are problems to at least the cost of the insurance then you will deem it worthwhile. Others ( myself included) take the risk of nothng going wrong that would cost more than the warrany insurance, and putting the cost of the policy towards anything that does. You will get both views on here.Whatever you decide, best of luck!
i have just taken out the 2 yr option on my DBS....3.2k....with the inspection being done at the last service..free of charge..probaly a waste of money , but some piece of mind, as it is the premium warrenty and covered oil leaks , stereo etc which was handy because on the inspection they found my am radio was faulty...but was repaired under warrenty which would have cost me £600+ so part of my return already.. where as the plus is a waste of money....as you get the same cover with warrenty direct for a fraction of the cost...

There is no right answer to this, as stated its all about attitude to risk....FWIW when i bought my car (06 Vantage) I decided to put the cost of a warranty, (£1500) in a separate building society account....I've just done this years contribution, and there's now £3k sitting there....
I hope I don't have to spend it, but if I do, so be it...
The wife and I did the same with our pets....3 dogs at £30 each a month... She looks after that account and apparently there's just over £2k in it..... Again I hope we never need it, but if so it'll be used for its intended purpose....
Hi took out a years warranty on my 20k miles Db9 few years ago (the warranty had expired), thro works service, the car had to go in for its inspection and they found a lot of things wrong with the car that I did not know about, nothing major but like " it needs a seal its only a £25 part changing but we need to the the front of the car off to get to it, i spent £000`s getting the car to warranty standards as it was termed,basically anything that was worn was replaced, havent renewed it since.
this topic comes up regularly, and ultimately its just bad luck to get a car with a lot of faults
Since 2006 and 60K+ miles my Vantage has had;
coolant sensor x 2
2 x wheel bearings
aircon refill
thermostat
and just regular servicing ...its the wearable consumable parts that cost you if you use it a lot, none of which are covered by a warranty
do a search on here and you will find lots of threads of examples and people that dont have warranties and others that do
put £2K a year away in a savings account or give it to Aston and hope you get your moneys worth ...so you are driving around wanting something to go wrong to make you feel better...otherwise 3 years later and £6k out of pocket you may think twice about doing it next time
and then sods law, when you dont have it, you get a dodgy car
I actually do have the extra AA cover, for £80 a year on top, you get £500 of parts n labour cover if you break down....that was most useful on my old range Rover and paid for a few £300-500 bills one year. At least I can get £500 towards the price of a clutch in the Vantage when it eventually goes

Same dilemma for me....AM quoted me circa £1500, and I compared this with Warranty Wise £1500, Warranty Direct £1460. I told them all no and only Warranty Direct pressed me and then offered something different called 'lite'. And it has exactly the same cover as the 'full fat' warranty except that there is a 5 claim per year (the full fat is unlimited)......and you have to have a separate breakdown policy. They say they'll pay all the labour costs of investigation at VAT registered garages (of your choice) but they do have approved rates. I haven't investigated if that would cover main dealer rates but the guy on the phone seemed to think they would. (As my car is 9 years old, main dealers offer me a labour rate discount anyhow). The warranty cover kicks in if the breakdown company say something is broken that prevents you continuing your journey / driving the car. It covers all the main bits on the car, but no electrics. I haven't given the go ahead on this yet as I am still considering the 'self insure' option. However at £380 this warranty direct 'lite' appears good value. You have to have serviced your car within 12 months of taking the warranty, which I have....
