I have a crazy idea

Just been looking at spare bits for Astons and it occurred to me that my db9 would look fabulous with the more recent lights and perhaps other fitments. On that basis and given that all current aston's are roughly build around the smame chassis with possibly similar proportions, how hard would it be to fit rapide/virage/new-db9 lights to my older db9?
Anybody even thought about having a stab at such a thing? Porsche owners regular update their light by fitting new bumpers, bonnets and then lights Just wondered if this might be a cheap way of giving my 9(?)

Yes. Hmmm, still, you could probably do it for under 5k I guess. You likely wouldn't get the money back or have real difficulty selling the car but for a keeper it could look teally good.It will need new bumpers, possibly wings

Fair point George. The right price to me would be about 70k, any more and her indoors gets a bit weird on me. How long do you reckon? 2 years?It would be easier to update your car to the last facelift 2011MY pre- Virage style DB9, you would need a lot of cash to put the Virage front end onto your car,things like Lights, bumper, grille, wings, side strakes, bonnet, suspension set-up, 20 inch wheels, etc etc, ( no doubt BR would let you know what is possible). this then wouldn't look right without the sill, rear etc, etc, etc. The new 9 also has the patent pending pedestrian impact set-up and the lowered engine is part of that.
Adding the 011MY more aggressive side sills, front bumper, clear rear lights etc would still be expensive but would freshen your cars look. Trying to make it look like a Virage or the new model would actually reduce its value IMO, unless it was carried out by a respected A.M. Expert.

During a factory tour, a question arose about the lack of a manual gearbox option on upper models.The answer given, was that when this option was available in the past, very few customers purchased cars with a manual gearbox.
Whether that is true, I do not know.

Actually. I prefer the vantage lights - they look like expensive jewellery to me. The LED DRLs also help. Given that Aston don't seem to do much to refresh their cars, my original thinking was, well, if all Aston are going to do is change around a few bits and pieces then what's stopping me from doing that? A bit more to it... Dealers pushed hard for buyers to spec autos because it was an expensive cost option. Plus all dealer stock DB9s were specced as autos, in grey with black leather, the resale spec. So the uptake, less than 10% for manuals, stays low. For Volantes I think it was more like 1-2%. My car was specced by the buyer at the factory, when it was 5yrs old he specced a DBS Volante manual in Chiltern Green and his old car came to me. I would like to buy him a pint
