In June 1986 I passed my test, 3 hours later I got caught speeding, the policeman gave me no breaks I said yes sir no sir I was on the verge of bursting into tears, but he still handed me a producer and told me the courts will ban me, they didn't........but I was stting myself for a few weeks

How long did it take anyone else?

story, cool, bro.

Rearrange these words to make a well known phrase.

On a slightly more serious note if you were going quick enough that he said you'd lose your licence (so fast enough to get you 6+ points if you'd just passed your test) then you probably deserve it anyway if thats how you drive just after passing your test, it's a shame you didn't lose your licence it might have taught you a lesson.

No i'm not holier than thou noone should ever speed type but after just passing your test and your speeding by that much you deserve all you get, must of been at least double the limit to be told you'd probably get banned i'd have thought although law was probably different back then.

He probably said it to scare the living crap out of you so you wouldn't do it again. Unless you really were lucky when you went to court.

Almost exactly 20 years. I got a Speed Awareness Course which I actually quite enjoyed.

I got cuffed for speeding in my MK1 Golf, they thought it was stolen biggrin

I used to get stopped in my Mk1 Capri by nostalgic coppers who wanted to check it out.

Tell them you were being chased by jimmy Saville at the time and get it retrospectively quashed.

Passed my test in 1986, had a few producers, then got my first company car and started doing 40 to 50k a year, was busted by a gatso on the M62 when the A1 M1 link road was being built, so about 1995 ish.
Had points 3 times in total but never more than 3 at a time.

The same evening I passed my test in 1987 , speeding and undertaking on a dual carriagway.
Really stupid and the Copper told me I was a "fking idiot", and could loose my license, which I told him I didnt have because i only just passed my test.
He advised me to go to the library and get a book out on hazardous driving, but was very fair to be honest.
I didnt go to the library, but it did knock me down a peg.

1986, the 6+ points in the first two years rule didn't apply then. From reading the OP it seems he DID learn his lesson so I'd say it worked smile

1986 seems a goof year for speeders who'd just passed!

Me too!

I was asked by my boss to nip out and pick up some litho plates as there was something due out on the news stand that evening and the original plates had been damaged - "go as fast as you can and don't stop for anyone" he said!

I was 17 and did just that; 45 in a 30 as I recall but on a very wide road that was tricky to keep to 30 on anyway. I was quite surprised when the officer told me my speed as the firms old Marina van was running on 3 cylinders and had a terrible oil burning habit. I was sure he was exaggerating what my actual speed was but I didn't question him.

Anyway, I got 3 points and a £30 (IIRC).

My boss didn't want to know when I suggested that we perhaps share the cost of the fine.

That's the only speeding fine I've ever picked up.

2003, 2 weeks after passing my test. 81 in a 70 and 3 points. It taught me more about observation than it did about speeding- I'm quicker and wiser for it.

Similarly, I copped a lengthy ban for speeding on bikes about 15 years ago.

When my ban finished at midnight, I was raring to go, and so me and a few mates headed out on our bikes right then.

Predictably and stupidly, being a young tit, I went bananas.

At exactly 12:25, we all got pulled by a traffic car (remember those?)

Fortunately, the officers hadn't got any speed readings on us, they'd just seen and heard us all go by, so chased after us and pulled us because we'd stopped at some lights at the end of a dual carriageway.

You can imagine the officer's delight in learning that I was only 25 minutes back into getting my licence back from a speeding ban biggrin
