So, no gritters or salting trucks on any roads in West and North London for the past few days. The weather is starting and the rain from the day is starting to freeze......

Opinions on what the morning will bring?

It would have made no difference how many gritters had been out over the weekend as today's rain would have washed it all away, the roads need to be gritted tonight.

It's looking pretty grim here in the east of town, settling a fair bit at the moment, is it expected to continue all night?
Not going to be much fun on the pushbike in the morning.

A lot of whingeing and moaning on PH. The EU will be guilty of meddling and over-spending which has caused the problem. The bleak conditions will be nothing whatsoever to do with homosexuals or man made global warming. Muslims and Jews remain under suspicion.

Does that about cover it? smile

If they grit the roads then there will be a very angry man shouting about how hhis car got stonechip and he wants compensation

If they don't grit the roads then there will be a very angry man shouting he hit black ice and ruined his car and he wants compensation

If they grit the roads I'll have one of my customers (body shop) moaning he's got no work in March.

I just drove from London to Nott M1 j27 snowing heavily the whole way did not see a single gritter on the M1 in 150 miles.
Motorway was ok until j27 Where it was white in L3 but slip roads and side roads looked slippy en route.

Where are the gritters?

I guess the various Local Authorities gambled on rain but no snow. They lost. It's snowing very heavily in North London now and the water from the afternoon is freezing. Oh well, a full tank of fuel and a careful drive back to Chiswick in the morning for me.

It was well known by the Highways agency, I drove London to Lowestoft and back on Saturday and every matrix sign I saw had warnings of severe weather for Sunday and Monday.

Roads were fine today - no problems at all in London.
