Getting an old kit through IVA or whatever
Discussion
IMO go to DVLA and tell them you want to register it correctly as a Westfield and see what they say. You may get lucky and they just change the V5c. Make sure you take every bit of paper you have and in particular any MOTs it has had in the past.
If the answer is they want it IVA tested then read the book and change the items that will obviously fail. Submit it for the test and see what fails. The retest will only be the failure points and will most likely be with the same inspector so ask him what he will accept as a solution to each fail point. If you start with the right attitude the inspector will discuss with you how you can meet his requirements.

Hi Steve
Not mine, its offered for sale. Looks like it needs a complete strip down and start again which will take longer than a straight off new build.
Do I want the hassle of a "will you, won't you" with the DVLA?
An IVA will just add to the costs. Suppose I could ask them the question, without giving too much away, see what they say....
No wish to compromise the vendor at this stage though.

You probobly stand a good chance if you can prove the car was in use years ago, but not Cortina-shaped at the time....
As stated above, you need evidence.
But from a personal point, as long I made sure my insurance company was 100% happy with an old Westfield with Ford on the logbook I would not worry. If you can tax, MOT and insure it it's not a problem. Good luck anyway!
