Anyone sense had this?

Email from them the other day. It's coming up to renewal time, been with them for ages. I know what it'll say....

Wrong.

'Unfortunately we will not be able to cover you for the following year. Please ensure that you have appropriate cover in place. Our specialist partner Gocompare would be pleased to find an alternative insurer for you.'

No claims, no convictions, no changes, no nothing in the last 12 months. Just this. And no explanation.

???

Ah, the crazy world of motor insurance.

My current insurer couldn't insure me once. However, the other five years (four before and one now) were fine? smashwobble

They no longer want your business so they are not offering a quote. IF you really want to stay with the same insurer ring them and ask them for a renewal quote.

OP, I guess your 330i is too expensive to leave outside in the snow?

There may have been occurrences last year where your type of car has cost then so they've decided to amend their requirements when selling policies.
Only a guess mind.

Yes, it's for that car. I've mailed them asking why as I'm disinclined to hold on 0871 numbers at the best of times.

It's an E46 330i so new-fangled keys and increased likelihood of BMW theft is not an issue. Especially in the snow smile

Are you young, or in a risky postcode?

I tried to get a quote from Competition car Insurance on a proposed new E92 M3 and was told they no longer cover that car due to the thefts. Its only a matter of time before other insurers who have had to pay out follow suit.

Do you now have to answer "Yes" to that "Has any insurer ever declined to offer you cover?" question?

I wish, and no.

I've lived at the same address for the last 7 years and the car's been insured with them for nearly all of that time. Nothing's changed at all.

If only there were other companies who provided car insurance.

I had this three years ago with Aviva. So I insured with someone else.

I am just getting over the mental torture.

CCI (or rather Aviva) have been getting a bit fussier lately. Reports of them not covering under-40's on Elises. Don't know if that will create an issue at renewal with the wife being a named driver. I had to drop commuting from my policy to come in at under £600 for 6000 miles a year and four (I think) trackdays a year on a 111R.

Just got the 350Z covered with a mainstream insurer for ~ £285, could have done £255 without some optional extras, so at least not everything is going up.

I suspect you are applying logic to an insurance company there. If, and it is a big if, this is connected to the spate of thefts, then I would imagine the companies have just slapped a massive hike on all BMW's.

The TV adverts with Iggy Pop in the Tuscan used to amuse me. Two groups of people they won't cover: Professional musicians and TVR drivers.

The first part of that actually generated an article in the Musicians' Union mag I believe.
