You Bend it You Mend it Part 2!!
Discussion
Not sure if anyone has seen this already but this is taken from a recent filming for Top Gear Korea and adds a new dimension to the ongoing you bend it you mend it discussion.
Top Gear Korea Crash
1. Firstly no one was injured thankfully but I'd be interested from some of the flying boffin's on PH, what they think the cause of the crash was?
2. In light of the prevalent gentlemen's agreement discussions on the other thread, I'd like to know how a TV program goes about arranging something like this. I assume it's a case of asking your local friendly military base nicely but more importantly, who foots the bill for the very expensive helicopter which I believe is worth somewhere in the region of $10m?

As for those saying it's fake, what makes you think that? Not saying I know for definate but there are internal camera angles too I believe.
That first footage does look like it's been fiddled around with, I take an interest in aviation and remember seeing a Crash like that a long time ago - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkhTtRo7ADw that's been online for just under a year so I don't know why it's just come out as news now.
Elements of the video I have provided seem to be included in the OP's link but it seems that they've gone a bit wild with their artistic licence?

Looks like Top Gear have a history of destroying Ah-1's - these clips look pretty convincing to me.

Mainly the music. If something like this did happen, would you release the video of the crash, or would you send off to be edited with the bits of the presenter driving the car, and then overlay the dramatic music? It's Top Gear, so nothing should be taken 100% as fact.
The multiple and internal camera angles would seem to suggest it's genuine or it's a very elaborote hoax if it isn't.
It's easy to assume pilot error I guess but you'd think the pilot would be used to doing these sorts of maneovers. I guess it's only takes a split second mistake at that height though!
Still wonder who is ultimately liable? I know helicopters are insured in normal circumstances but would the insurance we willing to pay out on a total loss given the fact that they were in effect p*ssing about at unsafe altitude for a TV programme. Also wouldn't have liked to have been the pilot having to report that in to his commander "Err captain, I have some bad news" but I guess at least he got to walk away!

The military would treat the whole thing as part training, part recruitment and would have to write it off as a training accident, I suspect. I'd be very surprised if military aircraft are insured as such.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

k did anybody walk away from that.
