I have disconnected the battery any number of times, including having it run flat. Before I got the trickle charger this year it has gone dead every winter, largely due to my idiocy in not charging her up periodically.

I have never needed to reset it; just recharged the battery & give it power. Usually automatically arms itself as the juice comes back online.

I would be tempted to check fuses etc before worrying about resetting the alarm.

ok thanks will try that the alarm is still working its the seperate imobiliser situated just in front of the ignition key which is the issue, the fobs are missing apparently it comunicates with the alarm normaly and doesnt need seperate deactivation, however once power supply is broken you then need the missing fobs to disarm initialy.
May just get immobiliser removed.

You will need to tell your insurance company if you do this.
