Bit nippy this time of year I'd imagine, but hey go for it. smile

Insurance is pretty good on kit cars too.

There are probably hundreds of good reasons not to, but they all fade into insignificance in light of the fact that they're awesome cars.

No reason not to. Had a Caterham at 19, insured for £500 fully comp (through MSM). At the time that was £300 cheaper than my diesel Mondeo daily. It taught me pretty much all the mechanical skills I have picked up over the years and a lot about driving.

ETA: Got mine in 2009, by the way. I'm 23 now.

Go through a specialist.

It was the same for me on my Elise, albeit older but with very limited NCB. Specialist insured for £600 or so, Direct Line and the like wanted £3k!!!

Who does? Obviously you're not going to have any success with meerkat/gocompare/money supermarket etc- you need to speak to specialists.

Have you tried a more modestly powered model? At 19, 100bhp was enough for me.

This!.. I had an Exige at 21 and the chicks didnt appreciate what it was! Those that did could barely get in it let alone get their leg over in it! If its chicks you want go for an audi..

Back on subject... Get the westfield!

I had mine at 21 and used it as a daily for a year and a half, and loved every minute of it

I had a room with a bed in it when I was 21. Much better for that sort of thing than a car.

Get the Westfield! I just got a very decent quote for mine through A-plan.

You're looking for the wrong females if your only option is to use the car hehe

Will specialists insure 19 year olds? i thought there were usually minimum age restrictions for specialist insurers confused

Well, Four years ago MSM insured me aged 19 but whether they'd do the same now is another matter. It seems to me that the old insurance tricks of buying a classic or specialist car and insuring it much cheaper than any modern car may have been closed off.

I had one at 23. Great fun, but have you got a garage?
I stuffed "Wanted" notes under the doors of any likely garages nearby and rented one off a mad old woman for a couple of quid a week. Don't think I'd have wanted one without.
