According to Autosport. That's going to slow down Minardi and Jordan even further.

Cosworth was split in two some years back, the Engineering side being bought by Audi, Ford retained Cosworth Racing. With any luck Audi will snap up the other bit too and rebrand the F1 engines as Lamborghini...

No just the block when it goes bang in the back of the Jordan, then it's sold onto Minardi.

Amg isn't part of Merc
Alpina isn't part of BMW
Quattro isn't part of audi.

Not such a bad thing really, so long as it's sold as a whole.

You sure about the last one there? Quattro isnt a tuning company, just a model designation of Audi's to denote a car with 4 wheel drive?

or have I missed something?

Quattro GMBH is a seperate company. Builds stuff like the RS6 and the racing cars. It was split off by audi a few years back.

Actually I thought that AMG WAS part of Mercedes now, that they bought the whole thing a couple of years back and although it runs as a separate company it is a DC subsidiary (so does what the parent says)...

I also thought that Quattro GmbH is an Audi subsidiary, although your synopsis they they are separate and build only the special cars is also what I believe to be the case.

Alpina definitely are separate, although the M guys aren't.

AMG options are also added to the vehicle on the production line. It used to be they were added separately. Now it is just a brand really.

Correct - like Ralliart, which is now part of Mitsubishi.

But this doesn't help us much over Cosworth Racing...

General Motor's
VW/Audi
Ricardo
Prodrive
Management buy-out
Plus a number of other companies that may buy Cosworth as well as Jaguar that I can't mention)

or could be split into smaller sections, F1, USA, road engines

I don't think even Nikolai Smolenski would have enough money left over to buy us.

Shekelstone?

Would give him a lot of leverage with the F1 teams who have to buy-in, plus IRL, CART, etc etc.

I think CART is now in trouble; they could always revert to old Ilmor engines!
