Just ready for an LS Engine or a new V8D unit, followed by a respray. Chassis looks good. Exciting project.

The second one looks a much better bet.

I would have thought the first. Gearbox already out etc, so ideal time to overhaul everything. If it went at that price, it stacks up quite nicely with a new engine and chassis to boot.

Someone should buy the first one before he sells it for parts.

I'd have said the opposite! smile

The first one has a freshly refurbished chassis and just needs the running gear putting back in and a bit of interior cosmetic work, whereas the second one needs dismantling, chassis refurb and reassembly.

Yes, the first one! It's just crying out for a big V8D (or LS?) lump. and lots of cosmetic TLC.

Now if only I had the space in the Garage!

The first one probably only wants a bucket of water thrown over it ! the paint work may be fine !

It reminds me of a Capri 2.8i Special (1986 on a C plate)I bought around 1993!

It was at the back of a Garage and had been stood for 2 years, was covered in dirt / dust, and the owners cat occasionally would sleep inside (lovely half leather Recaro's!!). A few of the local Capri club boys looked at it and passed, as it 'looks like a dog'.

The guy selling it wanted only £1k, as his wife 'only used it back and fore to the shops, but didn't like it as it's to powerful & hard to park' (this was when 160BHP was considered Powerful!)

I tool the plunge, parted with a hard earned 1K, spent around £200 on a 'paint correction' (a local spray shop with a cut, mop & wax!) which was long before 'Detailing' was popular. a full Valet and had a car worth around £3.5K.

Now, back on topic, supposing the Paint is 'correctable' then how much, to get her in up to a saleable condition??

some great cars ready to make it as you like, especially the first one, you don't have to bring that back in the original state, so make it as you like.

At least you know the second one is all there and can be driven home.

If I was up for a project, which I'm not, I think I'd want all the work done to my standard and not someone who couldn't even be bothered to finish the job.

Funny how so many of these 400s seem to be 'HCs' smile

Exactly, clean and solid chassis and then put your own engine in it. You don't even have to strip it out. Straight over to to V8D if I had the cash for this. Nice clean install on a good chassis.

Was a bargain for someone, not me however as I was the second highest bidder. If I had held back another 5 seconds on my last bid I probably would have had it ranting
