Owning a 2 seater sports car, and an Impreza, i really have no need for another car, but man logic decided i did.
Step forward JAYB and his MGF, and a few comments on the 'Best of Bargin Basement' left me sending JAYB a pm with an offer of £160. Which was accepted.
£80 transporter from Wimbledon to Bath later, and this car now owes me £240 as it stands.
It has no MOT (failure sheet was emissions and headlight beam), and the battery has had it.
The plan is to re-mot the car Thursday with a new Lambda sensor, and two ebay headlights, and see how we get on.
I have a track 'taster' session on Sunday (@the SS) so who knows...

Looks an absolute steal for that price. I especially if you can sort it cheaply.
Stick your head under the bonnet to check the coolant level every so often and you'll be sorted. I went to auction and they were selling for £800 ish if they have a MOT.
Don't listen to what the naysayers think, they're usually the ones who have never owned a mg/rover.

Doesn't look like much, but the car is now ready for its mot. Only the emissions are the main worry as all the other failure items have been addressed.
New front 'trophy' headlights, bought on eBay for £35 delivered (I should be on bargin hunt
). A reset brake light switch, a repaired loom to the rear for the fog/3rd brake light, and some wipers. The cars going to be intered into this http://www.circuit-days.co.uk/1k-challenge.asp#col... this summer, and as many trackdays as I can afford. Can't wait to start
Well I bought I much less attractive MGTF for rather more from a motor racing client in a fixed price on the road rebuild deal and I will post photos as soon as I can. Does have the high output engine but needs a rebuild. It will be remapped and hoping for 160+ from the engine with altered throttle bodies etc.
I recon an all up cost nudging £1000. Clearly you have the better bargain. I will be interested to see how mine works out this year. Yours was unquestionably a real steal!

Oh and not wishing to be pedantic but that's an F not a TF.
Nice car - I bought one new in 1998 just after I finished working for Rover, it was a the full fat version, fully loaded, cream leather and everything on it.
As I had been working at Rover for a while I knew the pricing in different Euro markets and what the local taxes and import duties were, so ordered a UK spec car from a garage in Amsterdam where the local new car tax was extortionate, but not payable on export. This meant the new car price had to be much lower to make the car affordable to the locals, and that's all I paid. I ended up with the car on the road in the UK for 12.5k rather than the 21K I would have paid for it at a UK dealer.
I was feeling pretty smug until the car broke down on the A40 on the return trip from Amsterdam. Took 2 days to work out that the fuel guage was stuck on full and I had run out of petrol.
Still have pictures of that car with the ribbon on from when I got married in 2000.
