Good day - I post this thread seeking advice, or maybe an offer!

A fellow PH'er and myself have been to a couple of Autotest events in recent months and have found ourselves getting hooked on the casual competition.

On our first venture we attempted the tight slalom course in an MG ZS180 - This proved to be rather difficult, but we learnt a lot from the experience and what strengths the car needed to complete such a course. A strong example here would be that having poor rear braking and a weak handbrake made the tight 180/360 sections very difficult usually resulting in a very wide swung line.

We also noticed that power is only a minor factor in such a tight course. And taking this away we started to scout the usual places for a cheap car to trailer to the event.
Christmas arrived, and as we both have young families (both of us have twins) priorities changed.

Post festivities another event was announced, this time we were going to return with our knowledge - this time trailering a TVR Chimera named "Rob", this was decided before arrival that this will be a "fun" event rather than competition given we expected many spin-outs. - This however was not the case, persistent rain and wind, unforseen delays and some *cough* complications mechanically after half of the event we were a bit shot-down.
I thoroughly enjoyed this however, as this was my first drive in a TVR, and first Motorsport event rolled into one!

This time we realized that the fun was being competitive, and we needed to simplify our setup - cheap-ify, no Fork's given approach.
And this is where we are, we have a rough sketch as to requirements, but this place seems like the best start to see if anyone has previous experiance or indeed if they have a car for sale that fits the spec!

So here goes:

Req's
-Cost: £0-200 (MOT/Tax not required - scrap value or donation preferred!)
-Engine: 75+ HP, solid-ish, light
-Drive: FWD or RWD, more HP required for RWD setups.
-Gearbox: Tight, solid shift, close-ish ratio, if 1st will do 30+mph without being too bogged down this would be ideal
-Body: Preferably small, and if possible lots of visibility at the front/sides
-Chassis: A common chassis that has a million and 1 spare parts or modified parts available cheaply would be ideal.
-Interior: A reasonably spaced pedal box, and enough space for a 6"4 bloke (me)
-Brakes: Rear drums are ideal, and a good handbrake.

Current contenders:
Ford KA - Cheap, cheap parts, common fitment,
Alfa 145(prefurably early boxer engine)
Mazda MX5

Any advise, offers or ridicule welcome smile
