Aston Martin Track Days

We have a DB9 and it is my wifes birthday in a few weeks.

I dont want to take our car on the track given wear and tear, risk, cost of insurance ( and hi excess) etc. I know others will have different views!

I am looking for a decent track session for her. There are many 3 laps for £100 or whatever around, but I am really looking for something that will give her a decent amount of track time with an instructor. Not sure how much you can cope with in a day, but say 3 or 4 20 - 30 mins sessions??

Does anyone have any suggestions/ recommendations?

I have done this several times and would thoroughly recommend it, only problem, it is in your own car.

I hear what you're saying Gerry, but I note a small insertion on their homepage that says they are able to hire out sports cars if necessary

Exactly - great way to learn to trust your car and develop your abilities (Jockman when are you booking it )
ETA IME it is less risky than driving our roads

A bit pricey, but Palmersport day is immense. Based at Bedford Autotdrome, it's a whole day affair, driving a plethora of race prepared cars, all with flappy paddle gearboxes (apart from the Caterham and Land Rover). Majority done with an instructor, barring the single seat. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it is quite expensive. 4 years ago it was £750, but well worth it. Have a look on the website for the current line up of cars, but from memory:
Porsche Supercup
Clio Cup
Caterham
Jag XKR
Palmersport Audi (Single seat)
Palmersport LMP
Land Rover (off road course)
Go Karting
BMW M3

Lunch included plus lots of competitions if your wife feels as though she really wants to push it!

Also called their suggested insurer - £186 for both of us for the day 10% excess which is better than I imagined to be honest!

Motorsport Events (MSE) have a DB9, Ed Moore's the chap who runs a number of the Aston days at Millbrook. I've done a few of his track/airfield days, very slick, good fun, emphasis on safety etc

2nd vote for PalmerSport. I went 2 years ago and it was absolutely fantastic, a full day with no hanging around

I would definitely back this option. Hits the wallet pretty hard but has to be one the best days of my life. Great cars, tuition, circuit and very professionally run.

Cockers, I realise the disappointment you will feel at not being elevated to Team Leader (Molly was chosen instead) but you should try and rise above it and focus in on what's best for the group

I shall make sure Karen puts her extra special ingredients in your cake
