Looking for some advice about buying a car V5

Hi, I'm looking at buying a 2001 honda civic, to cut a very long story short, the seller sold his astra for £2000 plus the honda civic, about 2 weeks ago. He hasnt recived his v5c yet but is now wanting to sell the civic. We have agreed a price and I have agreed to buy the car assuming the paper work is sorted.

The problem is I am currently have no car as my other failed its MOT badly, whats the quickest way for me to get a V5 or at least to get the ball rolling? Because I'd rather not wait for the person selling the car to recieve his V5 and then fill out with me details as it could be another few weeks before he recieves the V5 for the ciiv, if I buy the car and send away a V62 would that work or at least speed the process up? I dont want to buy the car and then never get anywhere with a V5. Road tax isnt due for another 6 months so that isnt going to cause me any hassle, I just want to make sure I do everything legally thats all.

Im not sure if that makes sense, it took a while for me to get my head around it but its a good car and I need it asap.
