Another battery box question...
Discussion
I'm ready to put my new battery and battery box back in. The original floor bolts have rusted and one has worn a hole the size of a ten pence piece in the floor. My battery is an E39 AGM Varta, so a little larger than the original. The wooden box I've made adds to the dimensions. I don't fancy moving the battery to the boot.
Have any of you drilled any additional holes in the floor to help secure your new battery box? I was quite tempted to grommet the holes, Sikaflex a ply base and screw the battery box onto it.
How have you done yours?

I'd be tempted just to bolt two of these to the floor either side of the battery:

Use some big penny washers to spread the load over the fresh holes you've drilled.

Then secure from one to the other over the top of the battery with one of these:

The truth is you don't really need a battery box at all, just a way of properly securing the battery in the event of an accident.
Even without a strap you could argue it's not going far right down in the passenger footwell behind a carpeted kick board.
But two anchor bolts and a tie down strap would be best.
Remember an insecure battery is an MoT failure, but I suspect most testers wouldn't even know where to find a Chim/Griff battery so it's a bit of a non issue really.
NB: An old motorcycle inner tube or a bicycle inner tube doubled up makes an excellent & cheap DIY battery strap
