Which gearboxes fit a w209 clk 320?

I have a 52 2002 Mercedes Clk 320 w209 which is a victim of the dreaded valeo radiator issue. Unfortunately after a fluid flush the car still runs rough with the gearbox hunting and whining a bit and banging into gear. Therefore it looks as though I need a new gearbox, however after speaking to the Mercedes specialist that I use, they said that there are quite a few gearboxes that would fit my car. Does anyone know which model gearboxes I could fit to mine?

The 722.6 5-speed was the only automatic fitted to that model. The 722.9 7-speed was never an option behind the M112 engine in a CLK; that didn't come until they dropped the M272 engine in and it became the CLK 350.

There are lots of different 722.6 gearboxes, from memory the 3 digits after the '7226' of the gearbox number, will specify which one it is. Get on to mbclub.co.uk and you'll find more info there.
