Hi all, please advise. Went to open boot last night, it made the mechanical noise once then stopped. Boot did not open and now there is no noise when I try to open it. I think I know how to get it open via secret method but need to know what to to fix the problem. New solenoid? If so is it something I can replace myself and best place to get one? Cheers.

have you power to open the doors? Mine sometimes needs the button pressed at the right angle so try as many different ways of making the connection. Once you are in it is a simple job of replacing the parts you need.

May sound silly, but do your sidelights still work?
If not check your fuse as theyre on the same circuit.
If everything checks out and its not the fuse, it could be looking like the solenoid.

Not that bad a job and one you can easily do yourself, solenoid should be no more than £20.
Remove the big black blanking covers in the boot, use the acess holes to reach the solenoid.
The solenoid is held in with 2 or 3 nuts, undo being careful not to drop them in the shell.
Pull old unit out, plug new one in, test it works, chuck it all back together.
The two blanking plates will refuse to go gack in and you'll wonder how they ever did.
Top Tip, put them both in hot very water for a couple of minutes to make them slightly more flexible. Spread a little washing up liquid around the edges and you'll fins they slide in like a glove!

Oh sorry, did I not mention you need to have the hands and arms of a six year old and ideally be a contortionist? Have fun...biggrin

By operating it manually it has seemed to free it up so luckily I don't have to remove it just yet. Lets hope it lasts as removing it looks impossible.

Thanks everyone for you help.
