I was having a ponder today and realized that the smallest engined car I've ever owned was a 1.6. Has anyone had a larger smallest-engined car than that? I suspect they have.

Let's put down some ground rules:

1) Knock off 0.5 litres if you've only ever owned 1 car; knock off 0.2 litres if you've only ever owned 2
2) Knock off 0.1 litres for every year above the age of 19 that you owned the smallest-engined car. So, for example, if you didn't pass your test until you were 35 and you went and bought a Dodge Viper you'd get 8.0 litres minus 1.5 litres (blimey, that would still be really impressive).

I really, really do not understand what you are talking about despite reading your post three times. How come yours is 1.6 litres??

What?

I've owned more than two cars, so I knock off what, 0?

I passed my test at 17, and I'm forty-something now, so presumably I knock off another nought.

Right. Off what?

I'm going to knock them off a kabillion. Do I win?

I don't think there's a comma in that.

Commer. That was the largest smallest tracked van, wasn't it?

I'm Scottish. All the accents I do are to some extent fake.

In my native dialect it sounds like this:

"Chips".

I think I get it!

I messed up by owning 2 cars with 1-litre engines - Mini (proper one) and a Suzuki SJ410. Apart from those 2, the smallest were some Ford XRs with 1.6 litres.
Making up for it now, with a 3.0 and a 3.6, both sixes.
