Picture the scene last night:

Freezing cold, dark, windy, with flakes of snow blowing around. A rammed solid A3 leaving London.

... and a bald middle-aged bloke in one of these:

WITH THE ROOF DOWN!

Hero or idiot? I leave it with the jury to decide. smile

Can't see the link but from the URL it's a cont gt.

My immediate reaction would be to laugh and shake my head. Who knows the story ... maybe he just bought it, maybe he was trying to make ice cream or keep his shopping refrigerated... in that case, hero.

If he was showing off... titbox.

Hero, you woofters. If I had a conertible, I'd have the roof down as often as I could. Maybe he was just enjoying the air?

How dare he.

Hero.

I have far more respect for someone doing this than the many people you see driving around on lovely sunny days with their roof up because they are too lazy to put it down.

Maybe the roof was fked?

My neighbour came back with himself and the interior of his SL55 sodden when the roof failed in the middle of a tropical rainstorm.

Let's face it - convertibles of this type are only made for posing in.

Not an idiot unless he's doing it by mistake.

FFS.

This is why I hate having convertibles. Getting slagged off by convertibalists on the internet for how you choose to use the thing you own.

Yup. We used the SLK to go on holiday a couple of years ago. Boot fully loaded so no chance of the roof going down. The amount of times I had to explain why I had a convertible out on a sunny day with the roof up, with people telling me that I didn't deserve to own one!

The same people probably though I was mental for driving my mr2 with the roof off all the time come shine or rain....

hehe

I was wondering who would be first to bite.

Why would the viewpoint of random strangers on the interent possibly make you hate having a convertible?

Very odd.

I drove my 3 wheeler home last night. Temp was below zero. It's half term over here so I was expecting light traffic, but for some reason it was packed and I ended up sat in a queue. So it was pretty much the same situation.
I guess I was an idiot too but I don't care smile

Why do you jump to the conclusion that they're "too lazy"?

To be honest, my original post was trolling to bring out a few "haters".

I don't really care what he does with his roof, but it was an unusual sight seeing him last night.

If I borrow the wife's TT, I'll happily have the roof down in sub-zero temperatures with the heated seats on. I prefer the all-round visibility... feels less claustrophobic. Although probably not when it's snowing.

Technically yours isn't a convertible as it doesn't have a roof. Anyone who buys a car like that is just brave.

I also think he was a successful troll. I was congratulating him.
