SERIOUSLY!?!??!!

I was listening to the radio earlier, and an advert for this website popped up. I didn't believe it was actually true but it is. Another black-box hawker (well, offshoot of insurethebox) but their pitch is somewhat (obviously intentionally) sexist!

A telematics box fitted out of sight at no extra charge lets you prove you 'drive like a girl' and deserve to pay a lower premium.

The EU Gender Ruling means that most young women are now paying more for their car insurance.
We don’t think this is fair as we know young women are safer drivers than young men.
So we're giving you the chance to prove it.

Ride the clutch, kerb the alloys, hit every body panel and never get the car serviced? Why would you get a discount for that?

It is, but it's the "drive like a girl" bit, and the "we all know girls drive safer than boys" patronising boolax!

I never said anything about it not being available to both sexes...

Because they're completely oblivious of any wrongdoing and don't declare any of it their insurers.

"Powered by Fairydust" sticker optional.

Will this box reward you for putting on make up as you drive then?

"Plus with drive like a girl you get extra benefits such as handbag cover and misfueling cover!"

OH JOY!

In all manner of being serious, i chug around all day at 1500k rpm in a diesel repmobile, and rarely do more than 20 miles a day.

This would be ideal.

I think I'd end up spending more money refurbing alloys and replacing the clutch than I would save. Not to mention probably adding about £100 to my premium each time I go for a drive.

I think its more to do with the fact that yes, a lot of women as hopeless behind the wheel. But they dont seem to go quick enough to cause major damage, unlike us men, who seem to do a proper job!

It may be patronising, and that's how they are marketing it, because "boys have more accidents, why should I pay more"

Which is fair enough in my opinion, I really don't care.

To balance this, maybe there can be a kickthebucketearly.com to balance it out for better pension options for men........
(It'd never happen because that would be unfair.......funny how people are happy as long as they're on the side that's better off)

Either way I wouldn't want a black box telling people what I do in the car.

I do wonder however what happens if someone uses your car (with your permission) using DOC on their own policy?
(I am guessing if they drive like a cock you'd get shafted even though technically your insurer wouldn't be liable)

My stepmother drove out of the driveway and off to work today. Nothing weird there apart from the fact that she had a bowl of porridge on her lap and was eating it while maneuvering nuts

Shouldn't we all just complain about the website? Pretty sure Advertising Standards will help make this stupid company sweat like a cornered nun over this blatant sexism.

since when does not accelerating or braking harshly make a good driver?

also, they say 'roaring off from the lights as soon as they change' - what, compared to waiting, slowly putting it into gear and crawling off?
