I am contemplating a sale of my toy car as it is not getting any use at the moment, is sitting on SORN and I don't see the position changing any time soon. The money tied up in it could also well be used elsewhere. It is a LHD German import and it looks as though I could get considerably more for it by selling it back into europe than selling here. If I do go down this route, what is the best way of collecting the money? Bit wary of a roll of 500 euro notes, so does the equivalent of a BACS transfer work between european countries and the UK? Any other solutions?

I sold a car to someone in Switzerland and they transferred the money via their bank in Switzerland to mine in the UK. Took around 2 hours to go through but it did. This was back in 2009 so I would assume the same is still possible.

Your account likely already has an IBAN number which is a sort of international sortcode.

You can make international electronic payments through the Swift network - ring your bank and ask for an IBAN for your account, then you can make international transfers quickly.
