They almost stopped someone from completing the rally. Admittedly his tyres were through to the canvas, but I sounds like he had his work cut out to convince them that he could drive it back to service safely. They ended up escorting him.

They actually did everyone a favour. Can you imagine the field day the press would have if he'd stuffed it with bald tyres on a public road. Oh, and none of this BS about being better drivers. Faster, yes, not necessarily better on the road.

Agree.

Setting up opportunistic speed traps bad.

Stopping someone driving on the road with a dangerous car - good.

The rules of rallying state that the car should be road legal for the road stages. If I break the rules for my series, I expect to get excluded. If the F1 guys do it (apart from Ferarri obviously), then likewise.

Not sure why Rallying should be any different
