I made a promise to myself about 10 years ago that I would own a 911 by the time I am 30. My Dad part-ex'd his XKR about two years ago for a 997 C2S, which fuelled my desire even more.

However, having opted for a career in the Police as opposed to the University route at the age of 19, I have been forced to set my targets on something a little more modest.

A Cayman it is then. And a 2.7 over an 'S' due to running costs, etc. This will be a daily driver.

The spec had to be right though, and today I finally found the one.

PASM, PCM, extended leather, BOSE, manual, low miles, recently serviced.

I now have a week to flog my E92 330d.

Any opinions, good or bad, on my purchase?

Dave

Thank you all. Marcus I've sent through the details.

Having done two half days at Silverstone Porsche experience centre in 997's and a 991 I'm hoping to book a day there in the new car.

The link is now n/a as it has been taken off the site.

However,

Excellent taste - mine is a 3.4 but otherwise identical. I'm nearly two years in and still love it. Picked up 2 PCs and 5 monitors from PC World last week in it, and went for a thrash on local b-roads yesterday. Are any other cars so accomplished?

Lovely that!

Those wheels are my favourite Porsche wheels of recent years. Along with Lobster claws on the 997s.

Thank you for the positive comments. Needles to say I'm incredibly excited.

I was ideally looking for a Cayman with 18 inch wheels to save on tyre cost. My dads 997 has the same wheels, and I have to admit they are a massive improvement over the smaller ones visually.

I may sell them when the tyres have had it and buy the 18's if I can't get a good deal on 265 rubber. My favourite are Carrera Classics, not a fan of Turbo wheels, but these do keep the car looking fresh IMO.

For what it's worth, the 18s ride very well even out here in Wales on very dubious surfaces.

I don't know how the 19s ride, but if you are disappointed with the ride quality, that swap may be worthwhile for that purpose too.
