The Tow ball mounted bike carriers come in 2 bike and 3 bike carrying versions, these can be tilted away from vehicle to allow access into the rear tail gate and features a quick attach/release mechanism. They are manufactured from Aluminium and other lightweight materials and includes lighting & licence plate mount. It is lockable. The carrier has folding / sliding features to allow ease of stowage when not in use. It is branded as Land Rover. 51Kg Max Load for 3 bike carrier. 40Kg Max Load Capacity for 2 bike carrier. They are RHD/LHD Specific Versions.

Carries 2 bikes. For right hand drive vehicles.
I wondered if it really does allow proper access into the back - more specifically, will my dog be able to jump in / out without taking the whole thing off?

Also, I can't see a price. Any ideas?

Cheers,

It's for the fixed tow bar not the removable one. Afaik

yes, works but expensive due to branding and only carries 2 bikes

you can get a 3 bike version made by the OE manufacturer a lot cheaper

try somewhere like www.pfjones.co.uk

I have the 3 bike version made by Thule and it works well

I have a 2 bike Thule one which tips away from the car, when you loosen a couple of wing nuts. You can access the boot through the top opening but the lower section would hit the bikes. Works well.

We've got the Atera Strada DL for our D3. It clamps to the (removable) tow bar. You press a button and it unclips and slides away from the car to allow the tail gate to open.

I have the 4 bike version from Thule, (basically the 3-bike with another rack you add onto the back).

When it is on with bikes I can still open the top of the boot without having to hinge the bike rack down. When I hinge it down I can then open the bottom of the boot as well.

It's great.

On My S6 I used to have a roof mounted one, but on the Disco you cannot reach the roof!
