2010 Panda 1.2 petrol oil and filter change
Discussion
Hi all
I am going to attempt my first oil change today but was wondering if I need to buy a special tool to remove the sump plug or is it a normal socket I'll find in my socket set? I have a torque wrench, do I have to use one of those and if so, what setting (which will answer the previous question)?
Also, the filter didn't come with a washer so do I need one? I understand some don't need a washer? If it does, do I have to go to a Fiat dealer/motor factor for one or can I get one from B & Q? (Possibly a thick question.... apologies)
As I understand it, the procedure is as follows:-
Warm engine
turn engine off
place container under sump and filter
undo sump plug
remove filter
leave for a while - 30mins/1 hour or until oil stops dripping out?
put a dab of oil on the filter washer/thread
put filter on and tighten by and and filter tool but not too tight. Enough so it won't move by hand
replace sump plug.
fill engine up with oil up to recommended amount in handbook.
Seems pretty straightforward but have I missed anything?
Thanks all
