Hello Mercedes forum, don't think i've ever been in here before !!

Can anybody telll me about the pros and cons of a Mercedes-Benz C Class C230K ??

Going to look at one tomorrow, says it has a FSH, mileage is 125K, believe they have chains rather than belts ?

I know about rust issues ! Anything else I should consider or look for during the service record ?

Thanks.

what age ?

the engines are robust ; rust is usually cosmetic .

no specific issues ; they're a tough car and quite pokey . the engines are the same as the SLK of the same vintage and better made than the later models .
rust attacks around the front wings which are cheap , and boot locks and rear arches which are trickier to put right .
As with most Mercs , mileage is not an issue as long as the servicing has been regular . good luck !

Cheers, just agreed to buy her. A few spots of rust but reckon i can sort/stop them for now quite easily. Worst bit is the bottom of the drivers door. Engine was quiet and smooth, no smoke, no signs of any leaks, drove well so I thought I'd take a punt.

125K miles, £750. seems to have been well serviced, should look good after a good T-cut !!

Does it have leather, heated seats and xenons too?

If so, it'll be one of the run-out option packs that MB did in the six-months prior to the launch of the new model in September 2000. I had a W-reg C220CDi Sport Edition demonstrator at the time, the same colour as you've got there. (AMG Alloys were standard too.) Lovely car and if I could find a decent one I'd buy another tomorrow!

The 202 is an underrated car . I own one and whilst it is not as solid as my 129 or 124 cars , it is very well put together and has a pleasant solidity about it.

The supercharged 230 should be tight to drive , but spend 20 pounds on a new steering damper which will make a big difference .

No leather unfortunatley, not sure about heated seats (haven't worked out the buttons out yet !)

Picked it up today, gave it a good wash and it was already looking respectable -

Power assisted brakes seem a bit too sensitive as does the steering but I've never driven a Merc so maybe just need to get used to it.

So far so good !!

That was a bargain especially sitting on AMG's, well done. We had an estate version and its the best merc we've owned to date, so well put together.

I still think about getting a c43.

The C43 must be an epic car, a V8 in a relatively small car - yippee !!
