Front splitter smashed off again!
Discussion
Beautiful day up here today.
Took her out for a blast, and went to fast(about 10mph!) over speed bump and whipped off my DIY splitter again(3rd time!).
Only fitted as i thought it stopped the bonnet moving at high speed.
Since found out if you adjust the bonnet stay at either side, so the bonnet is tight when shut, this prevents the bonnet tremble anyway.
So long story short the splitter is no more!

i was doing around 140 leptons on the M40 when i lost my splitter luckily it was 7am i heard a clank then looked in mirror saw it flying behind nobody on the road ... phew..... no damage to the underside aswell.... the force of going so fast took it off
This is interesting as it should prove or disprove if the high speed stability is improved by the splitter or not.MADMAX2, did you notice much, if any, difference when you lost it at 140?

Adjustable suspension that allows you to drop the front to get the rake right is way more effective at improving high speed stability than any splitter.

why are you selling and are they in black .ngr said:
There a customers who purchased them not realising how much work they are to fit. They need a lot of modification to fit a chim. We made a custom splitter for him instead so he has asked me to sell them for him. I believe they were £150 but open to offers. They will need some modification and painting.
Any pictures of the custom splitter you made Neil?Cheers,
Chilli

Well that made two in West Yorkshire yesterday! I think mine was original (see photo) and to make matters worse jammed under the car. There was no way I was going to get it out so in the end had to call my breakdown service who with a low loader truck managed to raise the front end of the car and remove it.Took her out for a blast, and went to fast(about 10mph!) over speed bump and whipped off my DIY splitter again(3rd time!).

The thing that concerns me about not replacing it is that the splitter is supposed to help with cooling and as we will spend 6 weeks with the car in France during the summer it is a concern. Has anyone any views on this?
There seems to be a plastic one available http://www.fibreon.co.uk/products/part/18 and a aluminium one from Racing Green http://tinyurl.com/dxqgmth Any views on either would be appreciated.

It's made out of a resin impregnated wood that is used for race car planks/splitters and has exceptional wear resistance as well as being waterproof and much stiffer.
