Been a loooooooooooooooong time since I been on and looked what the tvr community has been upto but I feel I need to come home for this one and say I am thinking of turning in my beloved chim keys................poss to pick up a set of cerb ones!!!! Trouble is I love my chim and have done from the off its my baby but the call of the cerb is strong with this one so I am torn between the the two. Do I go for the greener grass option and try a cerb and miss and prob regret walking out on my trust chim or do I stick with what I know and love.....................

The only thing I would say, is that although they are both every bit fast enough,
The Cerb can be hard work when going slow.( it just wants to race at high revs all the time )

Don't get me wrong, would hate to ever have to sell my 4.2 V8 Cerb after 8 years of ownership.

Head and Heart moment afraid. Biasedly I would stick with the Chim,but I can imagine how you feel cos I would love a Cerb, but I haven't found one yet that would put me in your position. Good Luck.;)

You'll miss the convertible but the shear brute speed of the Cerb will be the positive to that negative.
I'd say go for it. You may look back on occasion but the Cerbera will you make you not mind remembering.

took the roof off the griff today, after a lot of "roofed" journeys. always loved the verb....but its not a convertible!!

Cheers it's s tough one!!!!! Would be perfect if I could sell my car to someone that won't drive it and keep it safe and clean for a year then if I want I could buy it back with no harm done........... So how do I find this perfect world??

Wouldnt you want this "person" to buy your Cerb for you as well ?

A cerb will make the chim but a distant memory and old school.

Contrary to Barney's suggestion my Cerb is better around town than the Chimaera.

Do the decent thing, keep the Chimaera, and get a Cerbera - best of both worlds. Got both of mine on limited mileage insurance policies, both about the same price and over the year, both within a couple hundred miles of each other.

It's depends on what cerb your after to fit your style of driving as they are not all the same. Early 4.2 will need to be up the rev range and can hunt at low revs but a late 4.5 will be a lot smoother lower down. The daddy of all TVRs the 4.5RR has everything from low rev smoothness to top speed balls out fun.

Lots of tuned cars out there making them a pleasure or a pain to drive so have a go and see how you feel.

Wish I could keep both but sad to say that's impossible.

As for what type I was looking at the ajp engines? As a few people have said they are almost bomb proof in terms of engine like my chim and I heard a few nightmares on the speed 6 engines.

Cheers for the imput but its gonna be a tough choice, think a few test drives might be in order to see how I feel.

As for sound that's one of the things I will miss about the chim I always thought their rumble sounded a bit better
