At heart, I am a hot hatch kinda guy

Not a chav, but I appreciate a subtly modified car

So, if you were an early 40s peter pan, and was planning a project, what would you choose?

Only £5-6k budget, light as possible, 130ish bhp, limited rust potential, budget needs to include a bit of youthful extras, maybe some coilovers or spring and dampers, lightweight non-max power wheels, etc

Thinking...

Polo gti
Lupo gti
106gti/saxo vts (I know...)
205gti

You know, sub 1000kg, 130+bhp, handling, upgrades available...

I've heard good things about the 106 rallye. Not sure of the power output though.

I used to have a Lupo GTI, they are brilliant. Really well made, no issues on any significance and very reliable

Only downside to lupo is wifey said "girls car" but I love them

Think rallye 106 has almost reached modern classic status, seem highly priced compared to a gti

Anyone think of something leftfield?

Did like the zx 16v that was talked about a couple of weeks ago...
