Hi there

After giving the car plenty of attention this weekend, oil and filter change, new air filter, good cleaning and waxing. It's thanked me on the way to gym by saying TPC Inactive.

Am guessing it's batteries as car is 6yr old. So as I suspect this is not covered by warranty and Porsche will no doubt want big money for batteries, what's the best source to obtain some new ones?

Are they easy to fit or is it a tyres of job and as such take to a tyre fitter?

Front bead broken for access, whole new set of valves I should think. Rebalance probably a good idea.

If you find out for sure and the cost, I'd appreciate you sharing, I'm likely to need a set soon.

OPC quoted me £741 fitted, saying new sensors, valves etc.

All I want is to replace batteries, even if they come as a complete unit battery/sensor £741 is just a joke. Anyone know any other options other than to just turn of it off using Durametric?

I'm sure that at my last service I was quoted a price of £50 per sensor / valve....

You can't just change the batteries, the TPMS transmitters/sensors are sealed units.
The 997.1 and 997.2 units aren't interchangeable - you can check this stuff via the online parts catalogue on the Porsche website.
You can't disable TPMS with Durametric. Apparently Porsche don't have an official workshop procedure to disable it either, but there's a workaround -search on Rennlist for details.
I think your OPC is asking too much: a few weeks ago I had a new set of TPMS transmitters and valves on my 997.1, including fitting and balancing. Cost was about £560 inc VAT fully fitted, that was at OPC Reading.

Got a quote from another OPC for just the parts which was 4x sensors and 4x valves and total was £440 plus fitting.

Think I shall just buy the OEM beru ones for about £200 and get fitted elsewhere. smile

Gibbo, I looked around for batteries/valves and £450 was the cheapest from a UK supplier. I ended up buying OE ones (Beru) for £250 delivered from the USA. My TPMS wasn't showing any low batteries but I was having new tyres fitted and my car is now six years old. I thought it was wise to do it in one go whilst the wheel/tyre was stripped down, all working fine.
