Interesting day today...

I've been in Cornwall recently visiting my sick Grandfather. On the drive back, my GF notices the passenger door on my Lexus is not locking. Fair enough I think, it's to be expected for a car of this age and think no more of it. 5 minutes later, there is a bang and a grinding sound...I immediately pull over to find my exhaust sitting on the floor after BOTH rear exhaust hangers snap. Getting suspicious now, I bodge the exhaust with some straps and a Coca-Cola can and take it easy the remaining 40 miles to Pembroke dock. Pull into the port, and am rear ended at 10mph by some dozy bint in a BMW.

Pulling out of Rosslare harbour, I am pulled up by Gardai for "routine questioning". Didn't leave for an hour...Get home, have to move the cars around to there usual position. My beloved Accord then loses all brake feel...Caliper seals exploded in spectacular fashion. Slowly get the Accord out and then start the RB5...Oh wait, it wont start! fkING bh ARSE tt bd.

I have now took solitude crying into my Guiness while the missus has went into the the bedroom incase I cause her any doom!

Make me feel better PH! Post up your stories of awful (but not morbid!) days so that I don't feel so isolated!

I know it's nothing on your bad day OP but just found out that my Outer CV boot has split on the ZS! Another tricky job to tackle before MOT time!

Sorry OP, can't top that.

Worst thing that happened to me today was that I knocked a freshly prepared plate of beans on toast all over me, the floor, the new sofa and some of new 'throw' thing.. It was a proper '4 slices, 2 cans' effort as well!

I was so surprised at my own stupidity that I didn't actually move for about 30 secs - just sat there in a mixture of shock, dumbfounded resignation and hot beans which were slowly starting to burn my crotch.

At the exact second I let out a big deep breath and decided to extract myself from the orange mess to get up and invest the next half an hour clearing up, SWIMBO's car pulled onto the drive...

My battery suffered an internal short and my car died while I was out with my 2 kids and my nephew. Fortunately the short cleared allowing me to jump start the car off my wife's car (she drove to rescue us) then I managed to find another battery at Halfords during the remaining 10 mins they were open.

So, only £85 down. On top of the £128 for a new belt and pulley from 2 weeks back (that fell off mid-journey. Wow. Power steering was much missed) and after a fortune spent on suspension, tyres, brakes (front calipers, disks all round, pads all round) and servicing. AND it has a periodic issue where all the lights on the dash come on in some spectacularly Christmassy celebration of one of the catalyses failing. Fortunately Torque Pro (Android app) cures that for a week or so at a time.

Anyone want an end of life Legacy that's had a fortune spent on it?

No never ever even close, it sounds like you will get mobile again by a bit of battery charging though. At least the Accord was only chugging around on the drive when it lost its brakes, so the fact you are able to post this from home rather than on a tablet in a hospital bed may be seen as result?

Poor chap frown

I imagine that'll be written off as an uneconomical repair.

The RB5? Loss of spark from the looks of things! Your point about the Accord is very true, and I thought the same. Me and the missus use it alot during weekends, so the thought of the brakes failing with her in the car petrified me!

Oh, and that poor MR2... frown

This!

I assume he fell out with the neighbour in a big way? Did he have a foursome with the neighbours wife, daughter and mother or something? It would take a lot to make me mad enough to do something like that.

This in spades. What cock-cheese loving neighbour would do that sort of thing?

I think if I discovered my neighbour doing that, I would applaud him for having the stamina! hehe

I did have track rod end fall out on a "rent a wreck" in Ca once while en route to the airport. That made for a livley hour or two. The proprieter got put straight when he tried to charge for late return of that car. It was a very likeable AMC Rambler and the day before I had been bowling along 101 with the car full of family members.eek

Actually thinking about this again I can only think of similar cases where it was the woman who did this much damage so maybe it was the husband he had the affair with? wink

I bought some ceap BBS wheels off gumtree last week and noticed the other day that one of the rims is dented. It causes the sidewall to be recessed ever so slightly. Pretty annoyed at myself!
