I've had a blast today, what speed should we be doing in 3rd gear when hitting the rev limiter! My speedo is out, I think my rev counter is out! Seems to top out at 100mph and 5500 revs? What's the ratio I should be using as a measure! Can't remember! As a matter of interest what speed should we get in 4th flat out! I'm trying to determine where my rev counter is at? !!! ? Thanks

Hi just compare it to your Sat Nav ,think the rev limiter should be around 6000rpm.

My milometer is way out, since the diff was removed ,its showing 80mph whan i`m only doing 60mph.

An approximation is, per 1000 rpm:

1st 5 mph
2nd 10 mph
3rd 15 mph
4th 20 mph
5th 25 mph

Obviously it depends on which diff and what gearbox you have. Mine reads just over 3000 rpm at 80mph

I think the rev limiter on mine is at either 6250 or 6500 rpm, but to be honest I was staring at the 38 tonnes coming the other way as I hit the limiter in second, not the rev counter!

So if yours is say 6500rpm, you would have been doing around 97mph as you hit it.

...Sat Nav...
huh confused

Surely a satnav assists in arriving at one's destination 'on time'?
I have almost always found the little detours one takes while 'unsure of the best route' to be some of the finest hours of TVR ownership.
And upon arriving fashionably late at my destination; "I was enjoying the drive so much I decided to take the long way", is both comprehensible, and [mostly] true.

Bin that thing kid and have some fun biggrin

Apologies OP, no help whatsoever.

Not necessarily, if you apply a little lateral thinking you can use the satnav to get you home from wherever you end up after you go for an aimless drive.... it's like a "safety blanket" that lets you drive off into the sunset but have a reasonable expectation that you'll find your way home.

besides - they are useful for checking the accuracy of your speedo, mine seems to be remarkably good TBH..

My gearing when at the track on the Mickey Tompsons.
The 5900 shift point is set at my peak power NA but i tend to shift earlier on the gas and use the torque.

Thanks db418 and QBee, the gear change points on that cool graph are very close to what I'm getting, I'm pulling abit higher revs but about the same. My rev counter only reads 5500 when I'm actually hitting 6250? Oupps, Christ I've been flying along! Hell she revs and pulls right up the scale so that's good. Must change gear earlier!!!!! I've got to the bottom of it so thanks very much boys.
