Mazda 3 MPS

Hello guys, ive been on here a good few years but never done a readers car so here goes.

I havent had the most exciting car history. Passed my test at 19 and had a 1.0 corsa for a few months, I paid £350 for it and insured it TPFT for £650. After a few months I got a peugeot 306 1.6 for the pricey sum of £600 and the insurance never changed after swapping it over.

I ran this for a few years until It was crashed and writte off both those cars were peanuts to buy and run.

When I turned 21 I purchasd a 106 GTi with 55k on for £3400 insured for £1200 fully comp as I had just had a a fault accident and ran until 109k miles on until Dec 2012. Apart from general servicing and a radiator pipe that car was utterly reliable despite it being 'french'.

It was finally sold for the pricely sum of £200 as it failed its MOT and with no service history (it was well looked after by a friend on his drive), 109k miles and being 13 years old it wasnt worth putting back on the road.

I sold it to a friend who is a car salesman and It was then sent to auction but ive no idea what it went for there.

This brings us to my current car a 57 plate Mazda 3 MPS picked up on the 2nd of Jan for £6995 with FSH and just under 32k on the clock. Its insured fully comp for £520 with an SP30 aswell but this is due to come off in august this year.

This car is first for many things for me.

Despite alot of the road testers saying this car is uncomfy I have to disagree but im comparing this to the cars ive owned. Aswell as it supposedly not handling as well as others in its class I dont do track days nor do I drive like a tt so Its sufficent for my 8k miles per annum.

Anyway here are some pics after a little wash this morning. I know the wheels arent the best but I dont have a brush to get in between them. They were also taken on my phone so not the best quality.

Love these cars! such sleepers. Might have to delve into ownership myself sometime in the next few years.

Funny how you say the 106 GTi was reliable despite it being french, yet it then failed its MOT and sold for £200 he he. just playin.

I think i prefer the simple looks of the MK 1 to the MK 2.

It would of only cost about 3-400 to put back on the road but even with an MOT thats all it would of been worth. Lets say it was reliable in the 5 years up until that point. Haha.

Looks like a nice car, they look best in red imo. Yours doesn't have the aero kit on it, so the insurance is slightly cheaper and the suspension is different on the aero and non-aero cars which would explain why yours isn't as crashy as the reviews say.

No plans to do anything to it other than look after it and enjoy it. I always thought the aero kit was purely cosmetic, didnt realise it had firmer suspension.

Yeah, they have eibach blue lowering springs which drops the rideheight and makes it more firm
