Don't post in here very often, but just watched "Sound City", the documentary directed by Dave Grohl about the famous studio - the highs, lows and how music evolved over the years. Ends up with him installing the Neve mixing desk in his studio and recording a series of tracks (on the tape machines from the studio) with some of the artists and producers who played and worked there. With some interesting combinations and surprising results.

Really interesting, and one of the first films I've seen in a long while which I didn't want to end.

Definitely worth a watch / listen.

Time for a thread resurrection.

Watched this a couple of nights ago.

Great film. Some interesting comments regarding the process of recording (having 'pro' recorded back in the 90's just before the Pro-Tools boom) that I was nodding my head along to and then had to explain in detail to the wife. It was lovely to see how even the big boys appreciate the magic that happens when great music is created.

Some class people involved and interviewed as well.

Great film, do Dave Grohl's talents never end??

The album accompanying the film is bloody brilliant too.

Massive Dave Grohl fan, as well as the Foo Fighters (they've eclipsed Nirvana in my opinion) but still haven't seen this!

Great film, really interesting and love the amount of time, effort and passion everyone involved clearly put into it.

If you liked that its probably worth watching Foo Fighters "Back and Forth" they released it alongside their last album and it tells the story of the Foo's from the time that Kobain died and then has a big segment on them recording the new album at Grohl's house, really interesting film.
