Never owned a Turbo but saw one for sale on this site with Tiptronic. Just wondering how well this works on a Turbo?

Or is it the case that it somewhat defeats the point and I might as well buy a 997 C2S....

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

just do a search - there are many arguments on tip on here

Personally I dislike it although it is slightly less rubbish on a turbo than n/a (I tried a 9996 not a 997) - only you will know so you really need to try both for yourself

What do you think 'the point' of buying the Turbo is? Would be good to understand what you want the car to do.

? 997C2s compared to a Turbo?

I have the tip - wouldn't have anything else. Others prefer the manual. Turbo is fabulous car whatever transmission option.

I was thinking the Tiptronic may detract from the overall pleasure of the stunningly fast Turbo rather than enhance it?

The tiptronic is a much easier car to drive, and quicker than the manual!
It's a much more relaxing drive, but goes like hell when you want it to!
The PDK is in another league however, and will be my next purchase.

Having driven a 996 Turbo Tip, albeit a very well-tweaked one, I'd say the 'box doesn't get in the way of going very fast and getting there very, very quickly.

Whether you like the Tip is a separate matter, but the Tip won't hold the car back. PDK is great, as someone has mentioned, but that means a substantial hike in purchase price.

Thanks guys very helpful. Not sure I can stretch to a PDK but like the sound of the Tiptronic. Obviously I will need a couple of test drives and will include a manual so I can make a proper comparison.

Another alternative may be a C/2/4S with PDK.
