Evening All,

Had a new left front spring fitted today. Fine at 30mph but once I've to 50 mph (I braved 70) there is lot of judder/shake through the steering wheel. Anybody got any ideas? Cheers

what car is it? By rights you should have had BOTH springs changed.

Mondeo (05). Just been out for a bit of a road test. Doesn't seem too bad at 30, seems to judder a fair bit at 50 but then come 70 it's more or less gone. Noticeable under hard (ish) acceleration. Hmmmm! Bloody cars.

it could be something as simple as the fitter accidentally knocking off 1 of the wheels balance weights when removing/re-fitting the wheel. unlikely to be anything more drastic than that I would have thought.

Cheers. That's what I was thinking. Have spoken to the garage and it's going back in at 8am tomorrow. Can't see it being anything huge though. With regards to fitting spring on the other side.... How bad an idea is it not to get it done? It's my "snotter" to an extent! lol

your not gonna go spiralling out of control by not aving them both done but it's always best to get them both done at the same time IME - the car sits right then, you have 2 good springs instead of 1 new and 1 squidgy spring smile

it's not the end of the world...smile

Cheers. My mechanical knowledge goes as far as being able to change a wheel! Really should do a DIY mechanics course or something.
