The one problem with Forza 4 is that there isn't enough tire smoke when doing burnouts and powerslides, so i have decided to mod my game in order to increase the amount the cars produce.

There is a tutorial on how to do this over at XboxMB, and while the process of modding the particle files looks rather easy, i don't understand where i am supposed to start with this.

Now for this to work, you would need to have Forza 4 extracted on your computer first .

GAME EFFECTS MODIFICATION

First thing's first, open Photoshop (or other program similar) and locate your Forza 4 extract location.
After that, find the location \forza 4\Media\Effects\

Now open one of them that you would desire to change the look of. As for example I will be opening smoke. (Particle_Smoke.tga)

Ok so you got that open, then head over to the left of Photoshop and click on "Brush Tool". Make it whatever Color you would desire such as "red"
Color over the old smoke as such and hit save when done.

Now the smoke is red so go ahead and overwrite the old file on the forza 4 ISO if on Flashed xbox, or if on the JTAG, just FTP and overwrite the old file through XEXmenu (must be installed through it)

Test it out and results should end up as such.

If you want more smoke or bigger backfire, you edit the XML's in the same folder. just mess around with them till it's good with you.
So here's the bit i don't get.

How do i actually get the game files from my Xbox onto my computer, and then how i transfer them back to my Xbox again once the modding has been completed?

Thanks chaps, hope you can help! smile

You put your game save on to a USB stick then from the stick to your computer.

For the sake of having red tyre smoke it's really not worth the fkin' about.

It's not the game save i need, the particle files are in the actual game so basically, they're on the disc!

I would imagine you need a modded Xbox?

Hmm... This might be harder than it actually looks!

So yes, modded xbox needed.

Essentially: Open Forza ISO, edit files, Burn new Forza disc (with modded files) and play on modded xbox.

And you know it may get you banned from Live and your box banned.

Yeah this perhaps isn't such a good idea now, i'm not going to go through all that performance just to get some more smoke coming from my wheels.

But thanks anyway guys, at least i understand how this all works now. smile
