Broken Boxster Key - Help/Advice
Discussion
Hi,
Boxster 987 key, the silver shape new ish one is cracked and currently taped together. Porsche quoted £200 inc VAT for a new key and coding!
As I have the internals and the key element, could I buy a key from ebay and replace the internals and key section to fix my problem?
Would this work for example - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-Key-Fob-Remote-V...
It says 911 but I'm sure it looks the same? Are the keys on the same age cars generally the same?
Please help!

It might not be the same. You'd need to check the number of buttons so they line up; the 997 won't have the button for the rear boot release for instance - at least mine doesn't.
You also have to transfer the transponder from your existing key to the new one. It may be glued into place but you should be able to prise out out with a small screwdriver.
