Currently have an E36 M3 convertible. Pads are up for renewal. I only really do fast road use at most, no trackdays but would like something as fade-resistant as possible for long runs.

Currently considering standard Pagid pads (About £40 from ECP) however I've seen some Performance Friction pads for £85.

Are they likely to be worth the extra? I've already uprated the fluid (No braided lines yet).

Cheers

Went for the Pagids in the end, they seem very good.

I would go for the Performance Friction pads as I have heard Pagid pads are complete rubbish...biggrin

What happened to Pagid of late? I heard that they were bought out by another manufacturer who are now churning out cheap-compound pads under a formerly-excellent name. Anyone bought a set of super cheap pads lately? Could all be bs of course!

The Pagids were £50 for a front pair, there was also the option of another brand for a tenner and Textar were about £40 so they're certainly not el cheapo!

I really wasn't talking about the ones you've used - I was more thinking the stuff you put on run of the mill runabouts really.

Looks like they have been bought, hope they have not downgraded everything I have a set of front RS4-2s at almost £160 an axle to go on the car.

I use EBC Greenstuff, probably a bit overkill in some applications but there certainly seems to be less dust. Keep your alloys looking cleaner for a little longer

Mintex still make some good stuff. I grabbed a set of their ordinary brakes for my car and they've been superb - extremely resistant to fade under abuse, yet they've worn really well too.

mintex M1155 or M1144 are good, the standard pagid are just going to be like oem and will fade on track and not work at high temps, the friction coefficient falls off and pad wear increased dramatically outside of operating range. This can also cause deposits on the discs which some people call warping of the disc, but it's not.

Just wear them out and get some better one next time!

Dont confuse the ECP pagid stuff with the RS range!

ECP range are OE / standard parts.

The RS range is things like RS42 and RS29 designed for race use which are still available and exactly the same as they have ever been. They are releasing new compounds now, building on old materials and improving them.
